I have over fifteen years experience of teaching/facilitating Creative Writing Workshops with all kinds of students, from early years to older adult learners and everyone in-between.
I also had the great joy of lecturing in Creative Writing at university, even becoming a Programme Leader in the subject. I loved teaching and working with so many budding writers, but it was never my goal to become a lecturer and eventually I followed my heart into storytelling. I’m glad I did, I pinch myself every day that I get to tell stories for a living.
Over the years, though, I developed some core writing exercises and it’s a shame not to share them. So that’s what I’m doing here. This Digital Download is a 21-page A4 PDF on teaching Creative Writing. It’s a practical guide with session plans that can be adapted to your students, however you see fit.
This is a great resource for anyone teaching fiction writing, and the process would work well alongside English lessons focussing on specific novels.
